It was the hottest damn day of the year when Roy and Beth Chatham welcomed their first child and only son to the family. In a cyclical turn of events, the little boy was named Royce, a name shared with his grandfather, who had bestowed the shorter 'Roy' to his own son. There had been some trouble behind the scenes in the effort of conception, and ultimately, the couple sought in vitro fertilization to bring their only biological child into the world. It was a tough pregnancy with a great deal of turbulence, but despite it all, Royce came into the world at the healthy weight of eight pounds and five ounces, healthy as could be. However, as fortunate as the family was, Beth was not prepared to face the challenges of repeating the process, while still wanting at least another child to join them. The Chathams would expand to adopt two more children, sisters Jennifer and Lucy when Royce was eight years old.

There was some concern that such a transition from a single child to three would be tough on their son, but he accepted his new sisters with an open heart. Showcasing a very paternal and caring side even at that age, he doted on his sisters, especially young Lucy who was still an infant when she was adopted, and soon, he couldn't imagine life without them. There was always commotion around their family home based out of Napa, California but Roy and Beth loved every noisy second of it. The family had inherited an established and well respected winery that had been in the family name for generations and provided a stable lifestyle to care for three children.

Summers were spent playing out in the vineyard or down in the wine cellar despite being forbidden from doing so, learning the ins and outs of gardening from his green-thumbed father, and baking fresh breads with his DIY-obsessed mother. The children performed well in school both socially and academically, but Royce always wanted to travel outside the confines of California. It was decided as college loomed in his sophomore year of high school that he would be applying to colleges all across the United States. Luckily, with a transcript that sported both above average grades and a number of extracurriculars, he received more acceptance letters than rejections and decided ultimately on attending New York University.

Royce majored in business and settled into college life easily enough. However, after two years, he was running out of the money and took a job at the bar below his apartment in Brooklyn to make up the difference. He enjoyed it immensely and his grades began to suffer as a result, ultimately causing Royce to take some time off from his educational career. He had only chosen business as it seemed the most responsible choice, but found the classes dull, the teachers without passion.

Two years would pass before Royce would find that focus again, having excelled enormously at the bar he worked to the point of being promoted to assistant manager and making a decent enough living. He took classes in the early morning hours and bartended at night for two and a half years before he was able to secure his degree, and while it seemed prudent to seek out a job in the actual world of business, Royce instead applied the concepts to his work at the bar, helping generate a little more traffic. One of his better ideas was to start up a once weekly trivia night with a rotating theme. The idea was incredibly successful and turned Thursday nights from radio silence to a booming hot spot.

Within a year, he had changed his bartending hours to part time, and performed his trivia act at two different bars. He was stretched a bit thin, but he loved it and learned he was generating a bit of a fan base. These days, he bartends only in his spare time and has thrown himself into the growth of his business as a trivia host. He performs three times per week at various bars in various burroughs of New York and only hopes that this wonderful job is something he can keep doing for a long time. But even if it didn't, there's always bartending. Oh, and that business degree. He'll do something with it someday.

ENFP: The Campaigner ENFPs are both "idea"-people and "people"-people, who see everyone and everything as part of a cosmic whole. They want to both help and to be liked and admired by other people, on both an individual and a humanitarian level. This is rarely a problem for the ENFP, as they are outgoing and warm, and genuinely like people. Some ENFPs have a great deal of zany charm, which can ingratiate them to more stodgy types in spite of their unconventionality. ENFPs often have strong, if sometimes surprising, values and viewpoints. They tend to try to use their social skills and contacts to persuade others gently (though enthusiastically) of the rightness of these views; this sometimes results in the ENFP neglecting their nearest and dearest while caught up their efforts to change the world.

ENFPs can be the warmest, kindest, and most sympathetic of mates; affectionate, demonstrative, and spontaneous. Many in relationships with an ENFP literally say, "They light up my life." But there is usually a trade-off: the partner must be willing to deal with the practical and financial aspects of the relationship, and the ENFP must be allowed the freedom to follow their latest path, whatever that entails. For some ENFPs, relationships can be seriously tested by their short attention spans and emotional needs. They are easily intrigued and distracted by new friends and acquaintances, forgetting their older and more familiar emotional ties for long stretches at a time. And the less mature ENFP may need to feel they’re the constant center of attention, to confirm their image of themselves as a wonderful and fascinating person.

In the workplace, ENFPs are pleasant and friendly, and interact in a positive and creative manner with both their co-workers and the public. ENFPs are friendly folks. Most are really enjoyable people. Some of the most soft-hearted people are ENFPs. ENFPs have what some call a "silly switch." They can be intellectual, serious, all business for a while, but whenever they get the chance, they flip that switch and become CAPTAIN WILDCHILD, the scourge of the swimming pool, ticklers par excellence. Sometimes they may even appear intoxicated when the "switch" is flipped. ENFPs like to tell funny stories, especially about their friends. ENFPs are global learners. Close enough is satisfactory to the ENFP, which may unnerve more precise thinking types.

facts • royce's food-related prowess doesn't end at the bar; being in the kitchen brings him great joy especially when baking. he's a decent cook, but is trying to expand his knowledge so his pants don't grow ten sizes from all the carbs and sugars he churns out in his bakes.

• a bit embarrassed by how little reads. his sister loves to recommend and send him whatever she's reading at the time, but unfortunately, Royce's ADD always gets the better of him.
